Alive to God

There is Always A Solution

Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.
- St. Augustine
My dear warrior,

As I wrote yesterday, any area of your life for which you have no hope is under the influence of a lie. There is always hope. Not only is there always hope, there is always a solution! Recently I was listening to Steve Backlund talking about just that. He said if the brain doesn’t think there is a solution, it won’t look for one. But once the brain actually believes there is a solution, it begins to function like a heavenly search engine, searching until it finds a solution.
When you face a situation in which you don’t see a way out, the first thing you must believe is that there IS a solution. It doesn’t matter that you don’t know what it is yet, but there is a solution. Go ahead and say that out loud: There is a solution. Say it again: There is a solution! Once more, but I want you to really believe it, to say it like you are utterly convinced: There IS a solution! Good.

God has called us to live above our circumstances and above our problems. He has not called us to wallow in fear, despair or disappointment. He hasn’t called us to the great ministry of pity-parties. That’s not a thing. And yet, sometimes we let the weight of our burdens pile on and on until we find ourselves trapped under the weight of it all. In that place, we feel overwhelmed, we think there is no solution, and our problems seem bigger than God, Himself.

Need I remind you that God is the Creator of the Universe? God is our Creator and He is bigger than you and me, and bigger than all of our problems. He is bigger than your mess, your circumstances, and your mistakes. He is bigger than the mountain you’re facing. He’s bigger than Goliath. He’s bigger than the massive army of orcs you’ve found yourself face-to-face with.

It may be true that you have messed things up and you can’t fix them. It may be true that you devastated a relationship with the one whom your heart loves; it may be that you destroyed things you should’ve taken care of. Maybe you got fired from your job; maybe you made a huge mistake or said something you cant take back; maybe you slandered someone and feel like you’ve ruined their life; maybe your financial situation is dire. It may be true that you cannot come up with a solution and you have no way of making things right. Those things may be true, but they are not the truth. The truth is that God is bigger than any and all of those things, and He has a solution to every single one of them. It may be true that your situation looks irredeemable, but the truth is that God can redeem anything. You just have to partner with Him in faith.

You know, there are thoughts the enemy tries to plant in our minds. These are thoughts that, once they take hold, we play them in our minds over and over again, sometimes without even realizing the tape we’ve got playing in the background. These thoughts seem true while they’re rolling around in your head, but the moment you say them out loud, you realize how ridiculous they are.

I want you to laugh at how ridiculous these thoughts from the enemy are: Even God can’t fix this. My prayers aren’t working! There’s no solution. I’ve messed this up so bad that even God can’t help me! Stop clinging to those silly nonsense thoughts. Say them out loud to God and then laugh at them with Him! Then destroy them by speaking the countering truth out loud: There is ALWAYS a solution! Let that countering truth take hold and roll around in your mind instead.

The truth is that God has a solution for you that you don’t know about. Think about David and Goliath. When David came out to bring food to his brothers, he found all the sons of Israel trembling in fear, hiding from the giant who challenged them. For everyone in the camp, there was no solution. Little did they know that God had a solution they didn’t know about—a shepherd boy with mad slingshot skills. God had been preparing David to kill this giant for years, and no one knew. What an awesome secret weapon for God to unveil.

Just because you, in your limited human capacity with your tiny, earth-bound, human logic cannot see a way does not mean that God is even remotely inhibited by similar limitations. He is not. He is above it all. His logic, reasoning and understanding are far beyond our imagination. I love the quote that Wendy Backlund shared; one by Albert Einstein! “I think that only daring speculation can lead us further, and not accumulation of facts.” Rather than limiting ourselves to “facts,” we must dare imagine that God has a solution.

We are finite; God is infinite. Our imagination is limited; God’s is limitless. We can run out of ideas; God never runs out of ideas or solutions. So if God is your source, then you can know you will never run out of ideas! If God is your source, you can declare that you will always know what to do—because He will always tell you. Just ask.

My dear warrior, be encouraged. Put away the feeling of being overwhelmed, and lay your burdens down at the foot of the cross. They are not yours to carry. Don’t be too proud to ask Him for help. Don’t be too proud to recognize that you’ve gotten lost in your own head and you need His help. One of His names is Helper. Let Him be your Helper! Don’t resist Him. He wants to help you. He has a solution. He’s waiting on standby until you decide to get over your bad self, stop resisting Him and actually ask for His help. Because guess what? You can’t do it on your own. But you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! It is through Him, in Him and with Him that we have hope. While you can’t do these things on your own, and while it is true that you will just keep messing things up if you keep trying to do things out of your own strength, and it is true that you will burn out if you do them on your own—the truth is that if you partner with Him, that there is a solution; you won’t mess things up if you follow His leadership and guidance; and you won’t burn out if He is your source.

Beloved, as you trust God with your solutions this week, carry Romans 8:28 with you: God uses all things for the GOOD of those who love Him and are obedient to Him!

There is a solution on your battleground,
Warrior Beloved
