The Way a Warrior Takes

7/14/2016

The Way of a Warrior is based on humanity, love, and sincerity; the heart of martial valor is true bravery, wisdom, love, and friendship. Emphasis on the physical aspects of warriorship is futile, for the power of the body is always limited.
– Ueshiba Morihei, The Art Of Peace
My dear warrior,

A warrior’s life is one that is given in service to others. It is not self-serving. A warrior lives to protect and defend others—not the self. That would simply be called self-defense. I have learned from the one who has gone before me that warriors take in a way that gives back to others, not a way that robs them or leaves them feeling empty or broken. A warrior protects, not only physically, but also emotionally and spiritually. A warrior is a protector of the entire person: body, heart and mind (or body, spirit and soul. Same thing, different languaging). How can a warrior take in a way that gives much?

Healed from Food Allergies!

My message and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith would not depend on men's wisdom, but on God's power.
—1 Corinthians 2:4-5

My dear warrior,

This time last year I would not have expected that I would be where I am today. I would not have expected to be completely set free and healed from all of my food allergies and health issues. I would not have thought I would be eating pizza, joining in on all the food festivities at work, and finally getting to enjoy the lush German Christmas pastries that I have missed and craved so much over the years. And yet here I am, completely healed. This Christmas I am happily eating gluten and free from the overwhelming feelings of guilt, shame and food depression that came with having food allergies.

Warriors don't kill their wounded

My dear warriors,

I’ve heard it said many times that the Christian army is the only army in existence that kills its own wounded. While I did not originally intend on releasing this blog today, my heart was too burdened with this subject to wait any longer to release it. Warriors who have a great calling on their lives often seem to get beaten down more than anyone else. My dear wounded warriors: you who press on despite the mocking, derision and beating you take on an almost daily basis, let me take this moment to honor you.

The God-given call on your life is not simply a cloak that you wrap yourself in and see yourself magically step into. When you have a call on your life, you have direct orders from the King Himself about what it is you’re supposed to do, and you see who you are meant to become through His lens. The moment you receive your call, it is both thrilling and terrifying. You can scarcely contain your excitement as you realize “Wow. That is what I’m going to become! I know what I want to do for the rest of my life!!” At the same time, you suddenly feel yourself shrinking under the weight of this new call, and feel yourself becoming infinitely smaller as the mountain you must overcome to get there rises straight out of the earth and into the heavens before you. You suddenly realize you have no idea how you’re going to get there from here. But that’s ok. You’re not meant to do it on your own

What you're worth vs. what you deserve

“Man finds it hard to get what he wants, because he does not want the best; God finds it hard to give, because He would give the best, and man will not take it.”

—George MacDonald
Dear Warriors,

The way the world is now, people think they deserve everything, and do not understand that there is a difference between being worthy and being deserving. Have you ever stopped to think about if you actually deserve something? Or if you are actually worthy of them?

You probably don't realize how powerful forgiveness really is. Seriously!

“We do not have to make God willing to forgive. In fact, it is God who is working to make us willing to seek His forgiveness”  -Richard J. Foster

As believers, we all understand that we should confess our sins. At least, that is my hope. Confessing our sins and forgiving one another are vital parts of our walk with Christ. We cannot walk in step with Him if we are clinging to unforgiveness, clinging to anger and bitterness towards other people for having wounded us. Scripture tells us not to quench the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19). One of the ways we quench the Spirit in our lives is by harboring unrepented sin in our lives. It creates a rift between God and us.

The first question for you then, dear warrior, is this: is there any unforgiveness in your life?

If your answer was ‘Nope!’ then sorry, try again. This time, ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind where you need to forgive others; where you have unresolved anger, bitterness or hatred towards someone. Ask Him to point out things for which you have not forgiven yourself, or where you are mad at God, Himself.
